Meet the team – Esmée Vermeulen

Esmée Vermeulen is Junior Key Account Manager. She likes to share how she experiences working at The Floral Connection:

After my traineeship in sales, I really wanted to make the step to flowers. That appealed to me, because it is a fresh product that comes with various challenges. When I saw the position of junior key account manager on the careers website, I quickly knew that I wanted to apply for this. Because I had no experience in flowers, I thought this would be a great position to learn all the tricks of the trade. When I came here for the first interview, my feeling was confirmed and so far I am very happy with my choice!

Introduction and onboarding

I have been working at The Floral Connection for almost two months now. My first weeks have been very interesting. Everyone is very helpful and really take their time for the induction process, which is very nice. The first two weeks, introductions were planned from day to day. By having many conversations in this way and in a short period of time, I quickly gained knowledge about what the work is and what is expected of me. The information day ‘Tour The Connection’ was also part of the onboarding process. That was a very interesting day, during which we got to see the different facets within TFC and DFG with a group of new colleagues. We got a tour, saw the production department and of course we also went to the flower auction.

Learning a lot and a lot of colleagues
Flowers are a really nice product and at The Floral Connection you really get the chance to learn the trade. Everyone takes time for you and is very helpful. There is a cozy and informal atmosphere at TFC. What also strikes me is that it takes much more to make a bouquet than I thought. I would like to learn everything, the types of flowers, selling, customer contact, contact with production and much more. And you can do that here at TFC. As a Junior Key account manager for Sweden and Finland, I support the account manager. To this end, I make calculations of bouquets, I have contact with the customer and I am with our designers every day to check the bouquets they have made. In addition, I am in contact with production and purchasing. As a result, I work with all teams: purchasing, design, sales support, production, consumables. What I’m most excited about about in my job is that I don’t spend the day doing the same thing. As a result, I have a very varied day, where, for example, I first work with the designers to make a bouquet and then with the colleagues from sales to check the availability of the flowers and of course the contact with the customer. That makes working here incredibly instructive and varied!
